Amman Chamber to Host Philippine Trade Delegation Next February
13/01/2025Amman Chamber of Commerce will host a Philippine trade delegation on the 9th of next month, consisting of 13 commercial and industrial companies, as part of efforts to enhance trade cooperation between the two friendly countries.
The participating companies in the delegation cover sectors such as food industries, sweets, chocolates, fast food, ready-to-eat meals, juices, skincare products, tropical fruits, frozen vegetables, and other industries.
The delegation aims to open new horizons for trade exchange and introduce the Jordanian market to Philippine products, thereby contributing to creating new investment opportunities in the food and consumer products sectors.
During his meeting with the Ambassador of the Philippines to Jordan, Wilfredo C. Santos, the First Vice Chairman of Amman Chamber of Commerce, Nabil Al-Khatib, emphasized that the exchange of trade delegations and organizing reciprocal visits between businesses and entrepreneurs of both countries will contribute to building stronger and more sustainable trade relations.
Al-Khatib, who was joined by the Chamber's Director General, Ghaleb Hijazi, confirmed that the Chamber is fully prepared to facilitate the delegation's activities and organize B2B meetings with companies and business owners in Jordan, aiming to enhance cooperation and trade exchange opportunities between the two sides.
He also highlighted the importance of the Port of Aqaba, which serves as a key gateway to the markets of the Middle East and North Africa. The port offers advanced infrastructure and integrated logistics services, which contribute to expediting import and export operations and the smooth flow of goods.
Al-Khatib further pointed out that Amman Chamber of Commerce aims to increase the volume of trade between Jordan and the Philippines and boost Jordanian exports to the Philippine market, as the current trade volume between the two countries is low and does not reflect the friendly relations that exist.
For his part, Ambassador Santos confirmed that his country, which has strong ties with Jordan, seeks to increase trade volume and exploit untapped export opportunities between the two countries, while overcoming any obstacles that may hinder such efforts.
He noted that the Philippine trade delegation will begin its tour of the Middle East and the Gulf region, with Jordan being the first stop. The delegation will include officials from the Ministries of Industry and Trade, and it may also involve business owners from the tourism sector.
Ambassador Santos explained that the diversity of the sectors represented in the delegation reflects the Philippines' commitment to strengthening cooperation with Jordan across various economic sectors, including tourism, which represents a promising sector for enhancing bilateral relations.
It is worth mentioning that the trade volume between Jordan and the Philippines reached approximately 7 million dinars during the first 10 months of 2024, with more than half of it accounted for by Jordanian exports.
The meeting was attended by the Philippine Third Secretary and Deputy Consul Sheila Marie Andales and the political and economic attaché at the embassy, Ma. Jolina Guerrero.
