ACC discusses establishing a Joint Jordanian–Azerbaijani Council

The Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, called for the establishment of a joint Jordanian–Azerbaijani Business Council to coordinate efforts between businesspeople and to enhance joint projects and investments between the two countries.
During his meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom, Shahin Shakir Abdullayev, at the premises of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Al-Haj Tawfiq emphasized ways to strengthen economic and trade relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan, as well as mechanisms to capitalize on available opportunities to increase the volume of trade and investment exchange between the two countries.
He pointed out, during the meeting attended by the Second Vice Chairman of the Chamber, Bahjat Hamdan, and the Deputy Secretary of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, Falah Al-Sughayyar, the importance of intensifying mutual visits by delegations and trade missions between the two countries, considering them a fundamental step toward developing economic relations. He expressed the Chamber’s readiness to cooperate and communicate with its Azerbaijani counterparts in a manner that serves the interests of the commercial sector in both countries.
Al-Haj Tawfiq also stressed the importance of holding a joint economic forum with the participation of private sector representatives and investors, with the aim of enhancing direct communication, exploring investment opportunities, opening new horizons for cooperation, and building sustainable economic partnerships. This would follow the organization of a series of virtual meetings via video conferencing technology focusing on vital sectors including tourism, food products, services and information technology, energy, and pharmaceutical industries.
The Chamber Chairman further emphasized the importance of building on the outcomes of the meetings of the Jordanian–Azerbaijani Joint Committee for Trade, Economic, and Technical Cooperation, and the mechanisms for transforming signed understandings and agreements into real investment opportunities. He stressed the need to increase Azerbaijani investments in Jordan, given the attractive and secure investment environment, the new investment law that offers multiple incentives and advantages, and the promising opportunities provided by the Economic Modernization Vision across various sectors.
Al-Haj Tawfiq highlighted the strength of the friendly relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan, underscoring the importance of enhancing economic cooperation between the private sectors of both countries and opening new horizons for participation in reconstruction projects in Syria, in a way that contributes to strengthening regional economic development and creating joint investment opportunities.
For his part, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Amman, Shahin Abdullayev, praised the distinguished level reached by relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan in various fields, affirming the embassy’s commitment to continuing its efforts to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
The Ambassador also stressed the need to outline new features and a clear roadmap for economic relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan, with a focus on expanding cooperation in the tourism, energy, and food sectors, in a manner that opens new horizons for investment and sustainable commercial partnerships.
Abdullayev noted that the two countries possess promising opportunities to advance joint cooperation toward a sustainable economic future, benefiting from the supportive legal and legislative framework and the role of the Jordanian–Azerbaijani Joint Governmental Committee in coordinating efforts and facilitating initiatives.
In turn, Hamdan indicated that the tourism sector represents a fundamental pillar in strengthening bilateral relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan, stressing the importance of continuing meetings and coordination between both sides to enhance tourism cooperation. He noted that a Jordanian delegation recently visited Baku, and that a delegation of Azerbaijani tourism and travel agents was received in the Kingdom to learn about its diverse tourism potentials.
Hamdan also emphasized the importance of religious and educational tourism, noting that these sectors open new horizons for cultural exchange and enhance opportunities for sustainable cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism, through ongoing programs and visits that allow visitors to learn about Jordan’s diverse heritage.
In turn, Al-Sughayyar affirmed that “the commercial and service sectors value any efforts that would strengthen bilateral relations with Azerbaijan through the exchange of trade delegations to explore new markets, establish relations, and expand horizons of joint cooperation, particularly in the fields of services, consulting, and communications technology.”
